Who is Verdelite?

My name is Jeffrey Blum. I am an electrical engineer with 10 years of industry experience and an active IEEE member involved in the Electromagnetic Compatibility and Product Safety Engineering Societies as well as the Robotics and Automation Society.

With an MS in Robotic Systems Development from Carnegie Mellon University and a BS in Computer Engineering from Brown, I have established myself as an expert designer and problem solver for companies in diverse market sectors such as industrial robotics, battery-powered outdoor equipment, and commercial electronics.

I have over 5 years of EMC-related experience, including circuit design, troubleshooting, and laboratory testing to meet the requirements of the IEC EN 61000 standards as well as CISPR 25, CISPR 32, CISPR 35, and FCC Part 15. This experience combined with my academic and professional experience with systems engineering makes me well-qualified to help companies meet their goals both on time and on budget.

What is verdelite?

Verdelite is a green variety of the gemstone elbaite, itself a species of tourmaline. Like all tourmalines, verdelite is both piezoelectric and pyroelectric.

Piezoelectricity is a material property whereby the gem develops a charge when pressure is applied. This is the same property that allows quartz crystals to serve as the clock source for the vast majority of electronic products throughout the world.

Pyroelectricity is another material property that means the gem develops a charge when it is heated. Verdelite shares this property with the semiconductor gallium nitride, which has an entire class of power transistors dedicated to its use.

Verdelite's green color evokes the idea of safety and harmony that the company strives to achieve in every project undertaken.

When your team is under pressure and feeling the heat of an impending deadline to deliver a safe and functional product, Verdelite stands at the ready to help your project get a regulatory green light.
